Where are you located? We are located 2 miles southeast of Christoval, TX. Christoval is approx. 20 minutes south of San Angelo. We are approx. 3 hours west of San Antonio and 4 hours southwest of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. What kind of sheep do you raise? We raise blackface/medium wool sheep. They are hamp/suffolk cross with predominately Hampshire influence. Most of our sheep have wool cap and leg wool. How much are your lambs? We have lambs in all price ranges. From $200 to over $2000 in some instances. We sell a lot of nice lambs in the $500 range. Major show lambs run $500 and up. We sell ewe lambs for show and they are usually $300-400 and work great for jackpots or county shows. No matter what your budget is, we can find you a really good lamb that will be very competitive. How do I get a Barton lamb? Our sales run from April to October. Depending on what show you are buying for you may choose to buy your lambs in the spring, summer, or fall. We have a public auction the first Saturday in April at the farm in Christoval. These lambs are our early lambs that were born in Jan and early Feb. The bulk of our lambs are sold privately. You are welcome to call and come to the farm at any time during our sale season. We can accommodate you every day of the week and most hours of the day. . Do you do group sales to ag teachers and CEA? Yes we do. We work with several ag teachers and county agents in putting groups of lambs together for local, county and even major shows. Do you sell breeding stock? Yes we do. Every year we offer a select few rams and ram lambs. We also sell groups of ewe lambs and a few groups of mature ewes every spring. Will you help me select a lamb? We will. We know the likes and dislikes of most judges here in Texas and we can help you select a lamb based on the judge and the date of your show. What if I can't make it to your farm but I want a Barton lamb? This is becoming more common all the time. With schedules getting more and more hectic, a lot of people rely on us to select them a lamb and arrange transportation from our farm to their barn. We will gladly select you lamb and arrange for delivery to your place or as close as we can get it to you. Most of the time the transportation is free. We can usually find a ride to any area of Texas within a few days. Will you help me with feeding and health questions? Yes we will. We will do as much as we can using cell phones and email. Travel costs prevent us from making many house calls but we will gladly answer any questions and make recommendations for your program. How do I know when you have lambs for sale? By signing up for our newsletter, we will keep you up to date with sales information. During the spring we try to send out emails a couple of times a month to let people know what is going on here at the farm. We send out emails when we have fresh groups of lambs available or are having a sale or delivery trip somewhere.
